While Ranger may be sexy as hell, and mysterious, he is the mystery fantasy we'd love to have lust after us and then be able to bed us a couple of times. But he's not the family type. Yet Ranger's the one with a daughter, not Morelli. And I don't think he'd've told Steph about her if she wasn't really important to him. Maybe Ranger's just waiting to prevent him from making the same mistake he did the last time he married. I can see points for Morelli, but I'm not sure I can see Steph ever really wanting to be what Morelli wants/needs in a wife. He wants the Burg life, or more or less - pot roast at six and two-point-four (or whatever it is) kids. I think that is exactly what she wants, but she isn't mature enough to realize it yet. She wants the sexual fantasy with Ranger, but she eventually wants the normal Burg life. And I hope the books continue on after marriage, because I think she'd be a hoot as a mother. Maybe, but with Morelli? Whatever else he may be, I still think he's a little too conventional for Stephanie. Even if she does settle down, Morelli might want her to stay at home; I don't think she's ever going to be satisfied with that. Ranger at least can understand her more - Stephanie always rebels when told what to do, yet who still lectures her on how to live her life?

personal opinion -- I believe if Stephanie really wanted to be married to Joe, she would already have done it.

Im all about Ranger (as The Rock) I think he thinks it wouldnt be good to have a relationship b/c it would distarct him fromt he life he already has. Stephanie could definetely be more important to him

Ranger is hot but I don't think you could have a relationship with him. For me, he is the man of mystery whereas Morelli is my boyfriend material.

I have to say that I'm a bigger fan of Ranger than Morelli as far as Steph's choice. I see good points in this thread for both of them but I think that Morelli is looking more for a house wife/ companion and I think once Ranger opens up a bit more (and I believe if he'll open up to anyone, it'd be Steph) and lets her into his life he'll have the passion and understanding that she's looking for.
She wants to be free to do whatever she likes and have the job that she wants. Morelli won't give that to her. Ranger will. Instead of trying to convince her to change jobs, him being in the same field is very helpful. He can be there to protect her or if he's not there in person, have someone sent to protect her. He loves her for who she is, not who he thinks she could conform to be.
She wants to have unbridled passion and excitement, she already said she agrees that Ranger is all that and more. Morelli is great in bed but I think Ranger could be the tough guy that sort of lets his growing passion for her show in their love making while still being able to rough her up a bit if she likes.
Morelli is looking for Burg-wife Barbie; the perfect, sexy Stepford wife. I wish him good luck with that.

I'm a complete Ranger fan so I want her with him. Ranger seems like he would be a better husband and it seems like Morelli is looking for a cleaning lady to be his wife, and Steph is not the domestic housewife kind.

I don't see where readers get the idea that Morelli wants Steph, pot roasts and the Burg life. He never asks her to cook, he buys his condoms in gross. I think he wants Steph to be herself, to let her try to fly. He just wants her to know that he'll be there to brush her off when she lands from her flying trip.
As for Ranger, he provides no stimulating conversation, he doesn't like her family, he has no fashion sense (all black? that's imaginative). He was much more interesting in the first few books when he had a sense of humor, teased Steph and then went back to whereever he lived. When did he become Mr. Metrosexual? He's a bit creepy now.

HarleyBabe,
Thanks for your insights. You raise some interesting points.
I'm not at home where I could skim through the books to see, but off the top of my head, the only I-want-a-housewife comment I can remember is one time when Morelli asked her why she couldn't stay at home like his sisters. I guess when Plummies have lots of free time on their hands between novels, small issues get magnified.
I don't agree, however, that he wants to let her fly. He frequently tries to steer her away from her career of choice. Yes, she took the job because she was desperate, but she sticks with it because the flexibility suits her.
Regarding Ranger, I also miss bits of how he was earlier in the series.
Here's the great thing about fiction. You read it, and I read it. You interpret it through your preferences and life experiences, and it says something to you. I interpret it through my preferences and life experiences, and it says something different to me. Hence, the author gives us what we both want because we take from it what we please.
I hope to read more of your posts soon.
Take care, Margot >^._.^<

I think Ranger might be too much to handle in a relationship. What Morelli does for Stephanie is keep her grounded. When she finds dead body parts.. she calls him.. when people shoot at her, she calls him. She's almost always turning to him when she gets scared. Morelli just seems like much more of a comforting type than Ranger. Ranger is like the fun mysterious "bad boy" type.. not really bad boy but he has that sort of aura about him. But Ranger is not the type to spend the rest of your life with. If Stephanie was with Ranger, there might be a lot of guessing games for her as to how Ranger feels even if he opens up to her a little more.

I definitely prefer Morelli. I think he fits into her life like no one else. He is comfortable with her family and they with him. Stephanie can't stand her family, but, she still loves them. Her future with Morelli will include the family. Her life with with Ranger will not. Also, Morelli is getting use to her being a bounty hunter. He does not push her to stop anymore. However, as an independent woman, Stephanie will start feeling stifled by Ranger and his Merrymen. Morelli lets her go and get into trouble her way. Ranger and his Merrymen will always be there to "protect" her. I feel Ranger has Stephanie on a leash. She thinks she is free, but, is she? Where ever she goes, there is one of the Merrymen tracking her. A car gets blown up, there is another car waiting. When will she take the consequences for her action?
BTW, I agree with Harleybabe2015, when did he become a metrosexual? I prefer the earlier description of Ranger where he is a slightly sinister character. Now, he is this big shot CEO with a whole team of technology specialist doing high tech work. Just doesn't fit the original street smart Ranger.

Although I love both of the guys, I think I would take Morelli home! ^^ Ranger is the bad boy, who is fun for one night, but Morelli is for life!

I say Ranger all the way. After all, if we are going to have fantasy, why not go all out and have the sexy, mysterious one?

I'm a total cupcake! It always shocks me when I see so many Rangerbabes out there, lol. Don't get me wrong, I like Ranger, but in small amounts. Morelli I want to see all the time...that's kind of how I think Steph feels...but that's probably just my interpretation...
